Period 1
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I'm glad to interpreter my lesson here today. The lesson plan I'm going to talk about is from Book II Unit 3 What are you doing for vacation ?—the first period. I'd like to explain my teaching methods and the reasons from the following five aspects:

I. Understanding of the teaching material
1. Status and function of this period in the teaching material:
This period is the first one of Unit 3, with its focus on learning how to talk about Vacation plans and future plans . I’ll teach section A 1a---grammar focus. This lesson I will help the students use present progressive as future to describe future plans. And help them to learn the syntactic structures of “where , when , what , how long ” .It will help the students a lot to master those language points by this period.
2. Teaching goals:
(1) Knowledge goal:
1). use present progressive as future
2). use the syntactic structures of “what , where , when , how long ”
New language:
1). What are you doing for vacation ? I’m spending time with my friends .
2). When are you going ? I’m going next week .
3). How long are you staying ? We’re staying for two weeks .
enable the students to master new words, phrases and syntactic structures, to use the syntactic structures of “what ,where , when , how long ” freely and fluently
(2) Ability goal:
improve the students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. especially the speaking skill. Provide the students with chances of cooperation .Encourage the students to think and talk in English through communicative tasks. Cultivate the students’ research ability after class
(3) Moral goal:
get the students to realize the use of plans. Learn to love the nature, love life , love themselves , love others. learn to arrange their own lives and enjoy their lives..
(4) Teaching important points and difficult points:
Important points: enable the students to use present progressive as future through communicative tasks.

Difficult points:1) the usage of the syntactic structures of “what , where , when , how long ”
2) help the students speak English bravely and loudly.
3) try to build a student – centred classroom.
II. Teaching aids and methods:
The content of this period is not so difficult. As a everyday teaching , I choose a tape recorder , a blackboard , wall pictures as my teaching aids. What method do I use? How can students learn happily and quickly? I think interest is the best teacher. I think we should use text to teach, but not teach the text. So during the course of teaching. I design the task-based teaching. For example, the points of unit2 are talk about health and give advice. so I use the “healthy song” sung by Fan Xiaoxuan to start the lesson. It starts an easy , happy and active atmosphere.. and then design a task for the students to have a brainstorm to give advice about keeping healthy.
According to the teaching schedule , when I teach this lesson ,the date is about septemper20. it’s near national Day. I design a real task for the students to make a vacation plans. It not only lets the students t communicate in English bravely and fluently, provide the students with chances of cooperation , but also leads out the title of the period “What are you doing for vacation ?”and learn some new language:
III. Learning strategies:
Guided by the idea to “strengthen the psychological ability, and lighten the psychological burden of the students”, begin with the desire to cultivate a good relation between the teacher and students, inspire their interest to learn, and lead them to actively explore, discover and solve the problems by themselves. Students are centered as the principal part in the teaching procedure with the leading of the teacher. In the procedure of the teaching practice, learning guides of the following aspects should be paid attention to: guiding the students to do preparation and revision, encouraging the students to think and talk in English through communicative tasks. to attend the tasks and take notes, and to summarize and do exercises. All these will facilitate the students to know how to learn.
IV. Teaching procedures:
Step1. Revision
Teacher plays the “healthy song” sung by Fan Xiaoxuan . it starts a light, happy, active and easy atmosphere. And then ask :What shall we do if we want to keep healthy? Start a brainstorm. Help the students give advice about keeping healthy. Revise the points of unit2
Step2. lead-in
Teacher says , now Let’s talk something happy. The national Day is coming . we’ll have a 7-day vacation. Lead out the title “What are you doing for vacation ?”. then teacher says her own vacation plan as example .present the Teaching important points and difficult points. Give the students a real task for the students to make a vacation plans. Let the students list what they will do on the coming vacation. Teacher writes the things that the students list on the blackboard.
Step3. 1a
Point to the wall picture. Let the students look at the activities in the picture and talk about them.. ask the students to write the
Activities from the picture in the box and add some more.
Step3. 1b
Point to the activities in the picture, ask students to name each activities . says, listen to these three conversations, some students are talking about what they are doing on vacation. play the recording, let the students listen to the conversations and number the pictures[1-3]
Step4. 1c
Point out the dialogue on the wall picture. Ask one students to point out the picture that shows babysitting. Then ask: What are people in the picture doing for vacation? Let the students make a conversation in pairs. Finally ask several pairs to ask and answer the questions in front of the class.
Step5. 2a
Say Molly ,Susan, Hector are talking about what they are doing for vacation. .Listen carefully and fill in the answers under “what”?
Play the recording. Let the students fill in the chart.
Step6. 2b
Play the recording. Let the students listen again and fill in the chart under “when?”
Step7. 2c
Says ,what are you and your classmates doing for your next vacation? Draw the chart on the blackboard.. let the students work in a group of three. Make a survey about the other group members’ vacation plans by interviewing.

Revise the grammar box. Ask the students to say the questions and answers.

Review the important points of this period
Write your dream vacation. In the essay write what you are doing for vacation , when you are going , how long you are staying and who you are going with.
